SACANCHAM Newsletter and Season’s greetings – December 2021

Dear Friends, As 2021 draws to a close, it is an opportune time to reflect on and share some highlights of 2021 with you. Although we were unable to host in person events due to the ongoing Covid 19 limitations on gatherings, we were able to deliver many webinars across a variety of topical subjects presented by high level speakers. These include JP Landman, Economic & Political Analyst, Cas Coovadia, CEO of BUSA, Bonang Mohale, President of BUSA, Dr John Endres, CEO elect of The Centre of Risk Analysis and Prof Deon Rossouw, CEO of The Ethics Institute. To these and the many other presenters who gave of their time to share their perspectives and insights, thank you for ensuring that our members were kept informed of critical issues in our country.

KZN Disaster Relief Initiative – SACANCHAM 2021

It is with a sense of pride and gratitude that I acknowledge the generosity of you, our SACANCHAM members and partners, who responded so magnificently to our “call to action” to support the communities in KZN who were affected by the looting and unrest during July this year. The High Commission of Canada has recognized your efforts and I am pleased to share with you below an excerpt from a note received from the High Commissioner.

Bereavement – Ms Sandy Andrew

It is with sadness that I share news of the passing of our former Administrator, Sandy Andrew on Saturday evening, 20th February 2021. Sandy joined SACANCHAM in early 2017 and supported the three founding Directors in establishing the chamber and assisted me with member and event activities until her retirement in November 2019. Sandy was a gifted communicator with the ability to make everyone with whom she connected feel very special. On behalf of the SACANCHAM Board, members and partners we extend heartfelt condolences to Sandy’s family and many friends and assure them of our prayers at this time.
