Dear Friends
A SACANCHAM delegation was invited to engage with the MEC of The Gauteng Health Department on Thursday morning, 30 April 2020.
The engagement was constructive and the MEC entertained a number of questions and encouraged everyone to comply with the lock down requirements. He stressed that developments were being closely monitored at both a regional and national level and that decisions would continue to be based on well researched information and after consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
The MEC announced the launch of a new app, Mpilo: Healthcare in Your Hands and encouraged citizens to download the app which is in keeping with the Gauteng Department of Health’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and driving an improved patient experience in health facilities throughout Gauteng.
It was acknowledged that a strong collective effort is required from both the public and private sector if we are to succeed in containing the spread of the virus and make progress in restoring economic stability.
I have received a suggestion from one of the participants that a follow -up engagement takes place in mid- June to review the situation which will include an assessment of the economic climate. You will be advised once details are confirmed.
Please let me have your ideas on some topics you would like us to cover in future updates and in the meantime , keep focused and stay safe…
Warm regards
Mike Morgan
