CALL TO ACTION …..
Dear Friends
I am addressing this appeal to you following an approach from Advocate Mohammed Ameermia , a Commissioner at the South African Human Rights Commission on behalf of Gift of the Givers.
The need for support to vulnerable communities in South Africa has increased significantly since the announcement of the extension of the lockdown period with people being unable to access food and other essential supplies due to lack of public transport and , in some instances , civic unrest , due to the high levels of poverty in certain areas.
Many businesses have been forced to lay off staff during this time creating financial hardship for families already faced with a challenging economic environment and with little prospect of improvement in the medium term.
As can be expected , the list of urgently needed items for distribution is extensive and includes:
- Food – dry perishables
- Hygiene – soaps ,mask , hand sanitisers ,cleaning chemicals ,nappies ,sanitary items , toilet rolls etc..
- Medicine – primary healthcare products eg paracetamol..
- Infant Care – baby formula and growth formula
All donated items can be dropped off at:
Gift of the Givers Logistic Centre
22 Orchard Road,
Bramley View,
Gauteng
(Off Corlett Drive)
Arrangements for collection of large quantities ie one ton and above may be made by Gift of the Givers – please call Mike Morgan on 084 600 1095 or email Roslyn Toontas on rtoontas@mweb.co.za
