Prof Deon Rossouw, CEO of The Ethics Institute (TEI), was the guest on our webinar event on Tuesday 2 November 2021 at 11:00 CAT where he spoke on “State of ethics and governance in the Private and Public sectors”
As South Africa continues to be rocked by corporate scandals on a major scale, there is a need to take stock of the situation and implement urgent reforms to ensure the sustainability of business and our democracy. Deon, an internationally recognized expert in Business Ethics and the Ethics of Corporate Governance, shared his views and recommendations on how we can regain the moral high ground.

About the Speaker:
Prof Deon Rossouw is the CEO of The Ethics Institute and Extraordinary Professor in Philosophy at the University of Stellenbosch. Prior to joining The Ethics Institute, Deon headed the philosophy departments of Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg and the University of Pretoria, and also spent a year as Program Executive for Business Ethics at the Globethics.net Foundation in Geneva, Switzerland.
Deon is an internationally recognized expert in Business Ethics and the Ethics of Corporate Governance. He wrote several books on business ethics and published in leading international journals. In 2018 he wrote the second edition of the Social and Ethics Committee Handbook: A Guidebook for South African Companies.
He was the Founding President of the Business Ethics Network of Africa (BEN-Africa) and served as President of the International Society of Business, Economics and Ethics (ISBEE).
He served as a member of the Research Team for the Second King Report on Corporate Governance, and was a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Third King Report on Corporate Governance for South Africa. He currently serves on the King Committee for Corporate Governance in South Africa. He has been recognized as a Chartered Director by the Institute of Directors of South Africa.
Deon has extensive training and consulting experience in the private, public and professional sectors in South Africa, but also in other African countries, the Middle-East and in Europe. He serves in both executive and non-executive capacity as director on several boards.
